A Glas sculpture

Here’s a glass sculpture of a spray-can-cap I recently made.

A work in progress shot.

In order to make a glass sculpture, you need to first make it in wax or clay. From the wax or clay model you need to make a mold. As soon as the mold is dry you can melt out the wax, fill it up with glass and put it in the oven.  After the oven you can open up your mold and you’ll keep over your glass which has replaced the wax.

  1. Very interesting work Klass, hope your keeping well.

  2. Thanks Niall! I’m alright, I’m having my theory exams for the moment but in a week or two, it’ll be all over, so after that I’ll be able to concentrate on painting and caricatures again…

  3. hey klaas,
cool sculpture! i love the lighting set up, now i want to make one, they would all be paddo’s of different shapes and sizes. Anyhow, its also cool to see some lifedrawings from you, keep it up! Finally, i was at this little farm today and drew some turkey’s which made me think of you, i have an idea for a little turkey piece inspired by you so we’ll see if that ever comes into fruition, if it does you’ll be the first to know. Hope to see new posts soon,
    Dylan,

Oh also, Niall is my brothers name spelled the same way, weird.

  4. Hey Dylan!
Thanks a lot! Haha I dig the paddo idea, actually on school someone was making glass mushrooms, he was going to make them hollow and blow sound trough them.
About the life drawing, unfortunately the life drawing classes have already stopped for this school year, so I’ll have to wait until the end of September to practice again. Until the I’ll have to practice on my cat, my goats and some other animals from nearby.
I’m looking forward seeing your Turkey piece!!! It’s always great to see someone else’s approach!
More posts will soon follow! Next week I’m going to Berlin for a week so I hope to be able to do some sketching over there!
    Thanks for stopping by Dylan!
